About The Artistes.

Layla Sania

Layla Sania grew up with a musician father and this influenced her passion in singing at a very young age. This 18-year-old student from Chong Hwa Secondary School Kuala Lumpur is considered as ‘a young girl with a jaded soul’ among her peers and cited Amy Winehouse, Ariana Grande and Zee Avi as her musical influences.

Layla released her debut single, ‘Que Sera Sera’ – a Jazz and Blues inspired tune that was self composed along with her father and produced by AG Coco in July 2019.

Layla who speaks and sings fluently in Malay, Mandarin and English just recently released her second single called 'Lakaran'. She also stole the attention of Malaysians when she appeared on the third season of I can See Your Voice a month ago, singing a song by Tiger Huang.

KOUJEE

Koujee has never failed to spice up any event with his heart thumping beatbox. He is widely known not only in Malaysia but across the globe as well with many performances abroad. Major brands such as Hennessy and Intel has invited Koujee to perform at many of their global events. Koujee is also known as Malaysia’s first beatboxing instructor, where with his guidance, some proteges have made it to the top four in Germany’s Superkids TV talent competition. His talent is not only witnessed by Malaysians but on an international level by opening for Big Bang, CN blue, Miyavi and FLS’ 10th Anniversary Concert in Genting Highlands most recently.

MONORIFF

The brainchild of Niralji Ravishanker and Rakesh Daniel, MONORIFF is what happens when an electronic rock group meets pop sensibility at the dancefloor. Putting aside their experimental indie rock style to evolve into catchy dance beats, the duo strengthens their music production capabilities with this new setup.

Nirajli, with a filmmaking background met Rakesh from the engineering faculty and formed the band while attending Multimedia University. Started as a five-piece band, the group began playing unreleased demo tracks at live performances including Fresh Bottle, MMU Cyberjaya and World Youth Festival, Putrajaya. However, opening for Estranged at Music Republic, MMU Malacca in 2012, propelled them into public consciousness, growing enthusiastic local fans.

Musically, the duo draw their inspiration from specific moments in their upbringing.

Niralji’s links his early exposure to films to his father taking him on five trips to the cinema to catch Jurassic Park, drawing him to the art of film music. “An element which is the heart of all films”, remarks Niralji. This passion further enhanced his technical ability in composing soundtracks for filmmaking.

Rakesh’s percussionist training as a child, paired with his recent self-taught sound engineering skills, make up the electronic beats to Niralji’s occasional high-pitched falsetto vocals, in which he developed a liking from his father’s Bee Gees karaoke home set.

These distinctive styles now define the underlying tunes of MONORIFF. The duo cite their other large influences being Avicii’s country-infused electronica tunes, original soundtracks from the Star Wars saga, Lord of the Rings trilogy and melodious Tamil music, notably A.R Rahman, Harris Jeyaraj, Yuvan Shankar Raja.

The band later released their single, “Away From You” under the project name Human to be more accessible publicly, however later returned to the original name MONORIFF, by popular request.

After a one year break as a band, MONORIFF is back as an electronica duo, prepared to release five singles that explore the melancholy attached to the modern pursuit for love. Followed by hints of an upcoming album with their present music influences from instrumental, symphonic and orchestral music. Armed with love-struck beats, MONORIFF continues propelling as a volatile wave of musical genius with the momentum they have built to date.

Aizat Amdan

Aizat Amdan made his debut in the music industry in 2007 when his two self-produced singles, ‘Sahabat’ and ‘Hanya Kau Yang Mampu’ hit the top 10 in the local charts. His popularity continued to gain when he garnered prestigious awards, such as Best Vocal for Male Artist at Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) 2009, Song of the Year and Best Performance in Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL) 2009 and the Most Popular Male Singer in Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian (ABPBH) 2016.

In 2011, Aizat was honoured with the prestigious Tokoh Muda Negara award during the Malaysia National Day celebration. His last single, ‘Angin Lalu’, touches on the theme of losing one’s happiness like a passing breeze – a song that also relates to his own personal experience over the loss of his father, Datuk Amdan Mat Din.

However, Aizat's latest single called 'Dup Dup' which talks about first time jitters when meeting the girl of his dreams also features Malaysia's hijab and baju kurung wearing hip hop star Bunga. The track is currently being played on all Malay radio stations.
