Royal Selangor, the world's foremost name in quality pewter, and Ombak Kitchen, the leading premium seafood restaurant famed for its very Malaysian Pakai tangan jer... concept, have come together to offer a unique weekend of being enriched by a 135-year pewter smithing heritage and the finest in seafood dining.

In October this year, Royal Selangor launched A Weekend @ The Café, a series of themed weekends where Malaysian restaurants are invited to showcase their culinary crafts at its in-house café at Royal Selangor Visitor Centre here. It was a creative initiative to invite locals to spend a weekend exploring Malaysian history, arts and culture with good food within a short trip from home.

At the helm of Royal Selangor International is its Managing Director, Yong Yoon Li, who is also the fourth-generation descendant of the founder of Royal Selangor, Yong Koon who started his craft 135 years ago. Yoon Li says, 'The Royal Selangor Visitor Centre helps us tell the story of Royal Selangor and its rich heritage of pewter design and craftsmanship. We pride ourselves as a Malaysian brand who is passionate about what we do and we love reaching out to other local brands in the community who share this dedication. This is why we've been inviting restaurants like Ombak Kitchen over to our café at the visitor centre at the weekends to showcase their respective culinary crafts.'

Ombak Kitchen became an instant household name for celebrations and get-togethers due to its fuss-free Pakai tangan jèr. and Insta-friendly dining concept serving ocean-fresh premium seafood, double-boiled and drenched in its signature sauces. Its Group CEO, Sharita Loo says, "We're committed to offering the best quality seafood and ingredients to create the finest dining experience that truly enriches lives. During this pandemic, the call to evolve, unite and creatively work together to revive businesses for the well-being of all was a clear one. Royal Selangor Visitor Centre offers complimentary tours of its timeless museum. Visitors may choose to explore a wide variety of activities such as pewter-crafting workshops at its School of Hard Knocks or experiencing the science of pewter at The Science Discovery Gallery among others. Ombak Kitchen will be serving its selected premium seafood menu at the visitor centre's café on
Saturday and Sunday, 19 - 20 December from 9 am to 7 pm.
