PopUpStage Spotlight - Kyoto Protocol

Long time Indie Rock band, Kyoto Protocol are back with a new single, the first for the year. Aptly titled Best I Ever Had, lead singer Fuad wrote the song as a means to get down on one knee and propose to his girlfriend. With a million times YES, she said, this song has since become the final piece to the band’s trilogy following the release of their previous singles namely “Nothing Lasts Forever” and “Faded Lights”.

The song is based on the real life story of how Fuad’s girlfriend kept asking him to write her a song, after learning that many of Kyoto Protocol’s previous tracks were based on his past relationships. In response, Fuad delivered ‘Best I Ever Had’, a tongue in cheek love song that’s in equal parts fun and romantic.

#PopUpStage sits with the guys from Kyoto Protocol and finds out more about Best I Ever Had, their TikTok endeavours as well as their secret to keeping the band together for 13 years!
